Westport is a town of almost 30,000 people on the shore of Long Island Sound in Southwestern Connecticut. Westport is bordered by Norwalk, Wilton, Fairfield, and Wilton. Westport is one of the wealthiest per capita towns in the United States. It is a highly desirable place to live in part because of its proximity to New York City, which is less than fifty miles away and is accessible via the Metro North Train Station.

Although it has been settled since 1639, Westport was not incorporated until 1835. During the Revolutionary War British troops landed at Compo Beach on their way to raze Danbury, CT at the Battle of Ridgefield.
Westport was known as a haven for artists in the early 1900s. There is still a strong artistic bent although it is no longer an artists' colony. Westport was also known as the onion-growing capital of the United States in the mid-1800s.
